    I must admit, I don't understand clearly the mathematics of what this video presents but I do respect the logic presented, which does provide a much more thought out way of looking at our ancestral values.

    Whatever the answer mathematically, the figure is always going to be one heck of a lot greater than the amount of ancestors you are ever likely to discover!

    Of course the YouTube video does not mention the idea of all being descended from Adam and Eve! That makes the numbers even more interesting. According to one line I have, I am the 139th great grandson of Adam. Whether you believe the accuracy of this line is another story .........

    I have to go back 9 generations before I get to the first pair of duplicate ancestors.

    yes 9 generations is about the right time period for duplicate ancestors - from then on it gets more common and more common
