An elderly ward member has requested help to start her family tree. The Family History Consultant has attempted to register her with Family Search, but the site informs her that there is already an account for this lady.

However, the lady in question, who needs extensive computer help, has no recollection of a previous account, her username, password and or the email address associated with the account. The only data available is her name and her church membership number.

A call has already been made to try to resolve this problem, but wasn’t successful - can anyone please shed some light on how this can be resolved?

    Cath

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    Just in passing ...

Can I humbly suggest, that ...

IF, the (Elderly) Member (of the Church), has NOT already done so; THEN, she should, "Create", a "Church" Account, on the Church Website [ https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/ (formerly: LDS.org). ].

As, a Member's, 'FamilySearch' Account, CAN be accessed, through the Member's "Church" Account".

    Now ...

    That Said ...

Even if the (Elderly) Member, had ALREADY (ie. Previously) "Created" (and, "Maintained") a "Church" Account; and, the "UserName"; and, the "Password", are NO LONGER known, the Account, MAY, be able to be, resurrected; and, the "Details"; RECOVERED; and, RESET.

Such, help/assist, may NEED to be, obtained, through the "Global Help/Support Desk", rather than through 'FamilySearch' "Support"; as, such, is a "Church" Account, rather than just a 'FamilySearch' Account.

    Whereas ...

IF, the (Elder) Member, NEVER previously "Created", a "Church" Account; THEN, creating one "Now", WILL ensure, that she, CAN, get access, to her 'FamilySearch' Account ▬ all-be-it through, her "Church" Account, to start with.

    Good Luck.

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

Thank you for a very prompt reply Brett. I'll pass this on to the Family History Consultant and let you know the outcome. :)
