The record https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QGQH-M6GH should have Sex: Male, and Registration Number: 7, but I can't fix that with "Edit".

The record https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QGQH-BV3R should have Registration Number: 8, and mother name: "Mª de Jesus" (María de Jesús), but I can't fix that with "Edit".

The record https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QGQM-55SB should have Registration Number: 9, but I can fix that with "Edit".

The index is not the data. It is merely a finding aid for the data. Despite its errors, the index has served its purpose: you found the records.

@davidleelambert, just to round out the above answer, you can see, in the linked article, some of the reasons that we are sometimes unable to make changes to the index record. FamilySearch has a goal of increasing the ability to edit more fields in the index record detail page, but I haven't seen any specific information.

Well, I didn't say I was looking for these records. I was browsing through the film, looking for any records related to a family I'm researching, and noticed multiple errors on multiple images in this part of the film, including additional errors that I was able to fix using "Edit" on this image:

    • Dates
    • Child names
    • Father / mother names where the record at least had a name for the father and mother

I'll admit "Certificate number" isn't very useful right now; there's no way to search for it. But on an image like this one, with three certificates written out in longhand across two pages, one image, it helps keep them separate.

And sex and mother-name are both fields someone might search on, so if those are inaccurate the index is less useful.
