Should I change who the father is of my uncle as shown on Family Search.

My Grandmother (Myrtie Vibbert #KWCJ-D2N) has been sealed to Walter Pitcock #LQRF-B6P because he is the father of her oldest child (Orville Vibbert #KWCJ-D2F). They were never married.

Orville Vibbert is listed as the first child of Myrtie and Charlie Vibbert and then it lists the other seven children they had. Orville always went by the name Vibbert. Plus it is most likely he was never legally adopted.

My question is: should he be listed under Myrtie and Walter Pitcock as their child?

And - should he be deleted from Myrtie and Charlie Vibbert ad their child or left there too?

Thanks for your help,

Jeanne Nelson

To be historically accurate, you could list Orville Vibbert as the biological child of Myrtie and Walter Pitcock. You could also leave him as a child of Myrtie and Charlie Vibbert, but change the relationship to step-father or guardianship, or whatever fits the circumstances. Family Tree gives you these options, but the decision is yours.

Here are some articles from the Help Center regarding these issues.

Food for thought 🙂. We hope this helps.
