Can you use words like "infantry" to determine the branch of service or do you leave the entry blank?
@SandraKingore Project Instructions state to mark field #16. (Military Service Branch) as Company "B" of the Tenth Infantry and in this batch, field #17 (Military Unit) would be marked <blank> Happy Indexing!😎
Your answer helped me; but, I think you mixed branch & unit up. Thanks for answering my question.
The branch and unit are mixed up on the example, they are correct on the field helps. You can't use words other other than Army, Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines for a branch. We wouldn't assume infantry is Army. But, you also don't mark it blank, The field would be marked Not Given per the field helps. (Field helps are accessed by clicking on the purple question mark that appears when you click on the field.)
More importantly, since there is no asterisk next to this field, you don't have to enter any information or mark the fields blank. The only required fields in this project are Given Name, Surname, and Enlistment Month, Day, and Year.
@Melissa S Himes and @SandraKingore ---- Melissa, thanks for catching me on my mistake and thanks to Sandra for your persistence in getting the most correct answer ---Mary😎
