As Brett says, an ID number cannot be used more than once. So presumably the person has been incorrectly linked somewhere. A person cannot be linked to him/herself as a parent, spouse or child. If you try, the following error message appears.

However, a wider link, e.g. grandparent, is possible. In such cases, it is simply a case of breaking the incorrect link. The following should help if you are not sure how to do this

I suspect that the question is caused by an "extra" parental relationship, such as what happens when two family groups are incompletely merged. Graham already posted a link to the general help article for fixing such things; for more specific help, the original poster will need to come back with a lot more detail.

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

So, that we may be, better able to help/assist you ...

Question: Are you referring to two (x2) separate, individuals/persons, in the Family Tree Part, of 'FamilySearch'?

    Because ...

Two (x2) separate, individuals/persons, in the Family Tree Part, of 'FamilySearch', CANNOT have the SAME 'FamilySearch' Person Identifier' (PID) ... UNLESS, of course, they have been "Combined"/"Merged" ...

Where, that is another matter ...

Further Question: "Remove", from WHERE ... ?

    As, such please advise/clarify.

    'Thank You', in advance.

    Brett

The only way I can think you might be seeing this "behaviour" is whilst in a pedigree (Landscape) view in Family Tree. I have a situation where an individual married two sisters, so his name / ID is "duplicated" on the same page.

Of course, once you click on "Person" you are taken to the one "person page" that exists for him in Family Tree and the situation is made clear.

If this is a totally unrelated issue, please post a screenshot to illustrate what is giving you the impression of there being duplication of ID numbers - especially if you mean for different individuals.

Thank you all for reaching out. I was able to correct the issue by following the Instructions offered by Graham Buckell. The duplicate names have been removed. Much Appreciated!
