What can I do to delete incorrect information some esle has added to my family tree?
My name is Linda Ann Bliss (KW8H-6S8) and I noticed another user has added incorrect family info for my grandmother Elizabeth Margaret Schneider (KCSJ-NV2). Her correct parentage is
John Schneider 1861-1942 (K8C8-ZZ9) and Bertha Dorothy Schroeder 1863-1938 (9N4D-SZL).
it was modified 8 Oct 2021 by FriedhelmBladt to parents named:
John Michael Schneider Sr 1864-1938 (G8GC-K8F) and Bertha Ann Koeper 1864-1942 (G3KV-35V).
I received first hand knowledge thru family pictures and verbal accounts from my mother Mildred Ann Watt 1927-2004 (9N4D-SZG) that her grandparents were John Schneider and Bertha Dorothy Schroeder who were the parents of Elizabeth Margaret Schneider.
I have already emailed FriedhelmBladt but haven't received a reply. How can this be corrected?
thank you,
Linda Ann Bliss Wyler

As the FamilySearch Tree is collaborative - meaning we can all add and edit - errors sometimes happen. Basic instructions for how to edit can be found here: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-correct-parent-child-relationships-in-family-tree

The couple G8GC-K8F and G3KV-35V very clearly are not her parents: they have another child born the same year in another state.
So simply detach her from this couple. On her Details page https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/KCSJ-NV2 under Family Members, under Parents and Siblings, under this couple, click the edit icon (pencil and paper). Then, in the Parent-Child Relationship popup, beside her name, click Remove.

Go to Elizabeth's Details page and scroll down to the Family Members section. You'll notice that she has two sets of parents: the original (correct) ones and the ones the other user added.
I suspect that the other user was entering the children of his couple and the system suggested your Elizabeth as a match, and he just blindly went with the suggestion. Hopefully he will eventually notice your message and reply, but in the meantime, you can fix his error fairly simply:
In the Parents and Siblings column of the Family Members section, find Elizabeth where she appears under the incorrect parents, and click the pencil-and-box icon to the right of her name. This brings up the Parent-Child Relationship window. The third section there is Child, and it has a "-Remove or Replace" option in its top corner. Click that. On the resulting Remove or Replace Parents window, click the "I have reviewed..." checkbox, then click Remove Parents. Enter a reason and click Remove. The incorrect parents will now no longer be connected to Elizabeth.

How do I correct parent-child relationships in Family Tree?

Correcting child-parent relationships usually requires some analysis before you begin. Two kinds of problems can exist: duplicate records or incorrect relationship links.
Solving this type of problem can feel intimidating. If you remove or replace a relationship incorrectly, you can restore it through the Latest Changes feature. Find a link to these instructions in the Related Articles list at the end of this article.
When you remove a child's record from a family's records, the child's record stays in Family Tree. If the child is linked to spouses and children, he or she remains linked to them. Similarly, when you remove parents from a relationship to a child, the Family Tree record for each parent remains in Family Tree.
Before you start
Take some time to figure out what is wrong:
- If the child does not belong in the family, remove or replace the child's link to the parents. Use the instructions in this article to do so.
- If the children are right but one or both parents are wrong, you must remove or replace the incorrect parent. Remove or replace the spouse of the correct parent. Find a link to the instructions for removing or replacing spouses in the Related Articles list at the end of this article.
- If you see the parents and children multiple times, or in multiple families, look at the ID numbers of the duplicates.
- If the ID numbers are different, merge the duplicate records. Find a link to these instructions in the Related Articles list at the end of this article.
- If the ID numbers are identical, the child is linked to one of the parents more than once. Use the instructions in this article to remove the extra relationship.
Tip: Write down the names and ID numbers of the people whose relationships you are changing. Now you can undo a change.
