Hello @Bruno709
When you are at a dead end, often it helps to back off from your objective and take a run at it from another direction. So, here are two possible avenues of research that may lead to results for you.
- FamilySearch has historical records for a few different persons named Gaetano Di Tommaso, one of whom might be your ancestor. Most have not yet been attached to profiles on Family Tree: https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?q.anyPlace=italy&q.givenName=Gaetano%20&q.surname=Di%20Tommaso
- There are also multiple persons with surname Velardo and born in Cassino, Frosinone, Lazio, Italy who emigrated to the United States.

@Bruno709 When you hit a brick wall, a free online research consultation with the experts at the Family History Library can often be useful. You can schedule a session using this link:

@Bruno709 I did a search to see what records the familysearch catalog had for Cassino, Frosinone, Italy. This was my process:
familysearch.org/ click Search, then choose catalog from the dropdown menu.
In the place field, enter Italy, Frosinone, Cassino...click the default in green below. Click Search
Click Italy, Frosinone, Cassino - Civil registration
It looks like their are 3 collections that cover the time period you are interested in. Some have to be viewed in a family history center, but not all.
For example, I clicked on "Italia, Frosinone, Cassino. Stato civile: Comune, 1849-1930. These images have not been indexed. So you can't just type in a name and search. You have to browse and look for your name.
For example, you could scroll down to Nati, A 1884-1892, Film 5218254, and click the camera at the end of the row. You may want to do additional research to narrow down the birth year. But if you believe it is 1890, you could navigate to image 426 of 581 where the 1890 births begin, then check page by page for your person.
You might also want to post a question in the Italy community. Perhaps they can give you a clue on how to access an index of births for this location.
