    @Brett .

    Thank you for your answer that is part of what I was looking for.

    The next Question is, who indexes Ancestry records are they like FamilySearch where people freely give of their time to do this valuable work.

    @JBPurdie

    FYI

    It's 'Brett'.

    There is a form, of "Partnership", between, 'FamilySearch'; and, "Ancestry_com".

    Here is a "Knowledge Articles", in 'FamilySearch':

    FamilySearch & Ancestry Partnership Frequently Asked Questions

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/blog/familysearch-ancestry-partnership-frequently-asked-questions

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/blog/familysearch-ancestry-partnership-frequently-asked-questions

    And ...

    In general ...

    Why does FamilySearch partner with other organizations?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/why-does-familysearch-partner-with-other-organizations

    I hope, that these may help/assist, somewhat.

    Hello @JBPurdie

    More recently Ancestry and FamilySearch are working together to get the US 1950 Census indexed and available for us to search.

    Ancestry is creating an initial automated index of the US 1950 Census using machine learning algorithms and A1 handwriting recognition technology.

    Volunteers through FamilySearch are even now reviewing the automated index to ensure that every name is included and indexed correctly.

    By working together (Ancestry and FamilySearch) the time to create a searchable index will be deceased drastically.

    @JBPurdie

    FYI

    Lust in passing ...

    Honestly, I have NO idea ...

    I have never bothered; or, even interested, in such ...

    [ And, care even less ... ]

    But ...

    That Said ...

    I would think, that any such work, done by/for "Ancestry_com", would involve, some form, of remuneration ...

    As, after all, "Ancestry_com", is a "Commercial" (ie. "For PROFIT") enterprise/business ...

    Maybe, there is some form, of ... 'quid pro quo' ...

    ie. Sometimes, "Money"; whereas, sometimes, just "Sharing" of "Records"; or, whatever ...

    I am sorry ...

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett

    @JBPurdie

    Because Ancestry.com does index collections that are not shared with FamilySearch, if you are curious about who does indexing to provide Ancestry.com with collections, you may want to contact the Support team at Ancestry.

    FamilySearch does allow all registered users to help with indexing records through Web-Indexing, but we cannot assume whether that is also the process for the indexing that is done at Ancestry.com and then shared through our partnership with them.

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/what-is-indexing

    I hope this suggestion is useful and that you will contact Ancestry to get the details you may need.
