Why would Family Search change ID#s
I have researched and found a family of four that originated in England and at least two children came to Canada. The original first four digits match (confirming this as a family) but all of the ID#s have been changed. The original ID's start with "M" and the new ID's start with "K". How can I confirm that I am researching the same family? Would the ID be changed because the family came to Canada from England? The last name was very common in England and in Canada, making this a difficult search.

@SharronEMartin , are you referring to the profiles PID? The PID can change when there is a merge of a duplicate. One PID survives the other does not. Look in the change log and see if any merges have been done. (Under Latest Changes, click Show All, then Filter, scroll down and click Merges). The PID is just a unique number assigned to a given profile, it really does not give any information about whether another PID is related to it.
