Don't trust Google?
I trust Google much more than the Birth records I see. I am PERFECTLY sure they just guess when spelling names on old birth records. I just finished an old birth record where the birth date year was wrong and the spelling of the last name was wrong. Of course after a Google search. I found 2 different documents to TOTALLY confirm I got the correct person. Not simple, common names as well. I had to enter what I saw. So please don't fault me for that. Just to let you know.

@Harmon, James Bartlett - Google can be wonderful for researching and even confirming information when indexing, but Indexing instructions are very clear to type what you see - anyone, even the doctor filling out the form can make mistakes. Indexers and Reviewers should follow Project Instructions, examples given and Field Helps regardless of Google and when we have questions, (we all do, even after years of experience) ask them In Community Forum--it's not a mistake to ask for help using share a batch or a screen shot.
Every question and comment is helpful in making the process better at FS and all your efforts indexing and reviewing are appreciated, too -- hang in there -- we are all learning more everyday 😎

I went back to Sierra Leone for a little bit. Then I ran into an impossible batch to read. I now love reviewing Wisconsin Births. I now have very few options when I run into blurry images and undecipherable letters. Does returning them eliminate the changes that I make?

When you run into hard-to-read batches or undecipherable letters, you can ask for help by posting the batch code with your question - here's an example of a batch code [M3GC-9NJ] from Pre-1907 Wisconsin Birth Records that I recently reviewed. Please do not change or add information you find on Google. When you return the batch, your changes may not be saved, so give us a try at helping with the batch you have open to index or review. We love to help & we love to learn from you as you decipher handwriting from those long-ago years. 😎
