I have found in the 1861 English census- Hugh Culley b 1810, Mary Ann Culley b 1816 John Culley b 1840 all born in Ireland James Culley b 1843, Sarah Ann b 1845, Mary b 1850 and Agnes Douglas Culley b 1855 all in Maryport Cumberland. The children born in Cumberland birth records say McCulley ( or variants of). No other records. Searching in Ireland is hampered by the fact that that they were not catholic. There appears to be a link to a Samuel Burns McCully b 1833 Scotland, as he took in Sarah Ann's children after her and her husband's death as his niece and nephews He also says his father's name is Hugh. I have not found his birth details either. Can anyone help linking the family back please?

Have you tried RootsIreland for the Irish baptismal records? For now, that's the most likely place to find non-Catholic baptisms. There is a project underway to digitize the existing Church of Ireland baptismal registers - due out in 2023, I believe.
