General Indexing Guidelines
Overlays
Occasionally you will come across an image that is partially covered by another document on top of it, referred to as an overlay. When this occurs, do the following:
- If the overlay contains information about a record type being indexed in the project, create a separate record, and index the information in the corresponding fields. If it does not pertain to the record type being indexed in the project, then do not index any information from it.
You should only index the top portion (overlay). Looks like Ship Charon makes more than one stop and these are the passengers who "Landed in Freemantle." The page underneath should appear in its entirety on another page (might appear in Reference Pages) and would be indexed by another.
Note: I didn't see an entry for the 2nd name: Lon Chee. Preferably add it in after 1st entry so they are in order for Reviewer.

For the Chinese names you could use the general guideline that states:
• If you cannot determine whether a name is a given name or a surname, type it in the Given Names field.
I know Chinese name order is complicated but I can't give more help than this.
Maybe someone that actually knows will give some assistance.
Keep up the good work.

I agree with your bullet answer: Type it in the Given Name field. Generally Chinese names are surname first then given name; BUT NOT ALWAYS! When in doubt type it in the Given Name field--that's the safest method.
