Age when in a certain year

I have been indexing death records, and find the individual died "in her "third" year. I assumed that meant that a child would only be indexed as 2 years old (not 3).

However, I see the same designation for adults and I am wondering if an adult should be indexed as 25 if the record says "in his 25th year. The instructions don't address this issue.

Thank you, I appreciate your help.

    Hi, Thanks for your question.

Yes the same rule usually applies, but please check the project instructions. If there is no further guidance you should always round an age down to the nears whole year.

Thank you for helping in this great work.

    Thanks Kevin,

The more I looked at this, the less I knew.
