Land Records, index wife
I can’t open your batch, but the answer is no. You only index a wife (or husband) if that person’s name is mentioned (at least given name or surname). If the record just says “& wife,” you ignore that. You will fine advice like the following in the “What To Remember About This Project” section of the project instructions:. So just ignore that - do not make an additional entry for that unnamed wife.
- When typing the name of the grantor or grantee, do not include descriptive words or terms, such as "by Atty," "et al," or "and spouse," that may have been written with the name.
Thanks! Sorry I sent that batch through but it keeps coming up in other batchs .0
You're welcome, Rebecca. I'm glad you asked. Notations like that are very common in those types of records, and it's not apparent what to do with them. Among other important information, advice to ignore them is usually in the "What To Remember" section of projects of that type.1
