I have lost a complete family in Family Search. How can I restore them.
James Dunn born 10 Dec 1759 and Sarah Dolley Harvey born about 1758 had 10 children. Somewhere along the way they have all been merged and the temple work lost. I Found them in the Genealogies under the IGI. James M852-VXX, Dolley M852-VF9, James M852-VFR, John M852-VNZ, Reuben M852-VNY, etc. The citing on the side says "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "International Genealogical Index (IGI)," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:1:M852-VXX : accessed 17 March 2022), entry for James Dunn, batch A23673-1; citing FHL microfilm 458,321; submitter not specified. I would like to restore each of these to get the temple work showing correctly as done in 1884. Sealings were done 6 Sept 1957 LA. I believe the merging is so deep that I cant find the original merge to restore it. Can you help me?

There is a Sarah Harvey LCJM-2RL, which has an 2016 entry in the change log: "Vital changed - Name: Sarah Dolly Harvey". I have only had a quick look at this record and did not see any obvious sign of a merge with your Sarah Dolley Harvey. However, typing M852-VXX into the "FIND" ID field (of Family Tree) produces ID MM26-923 for James Dunn, who is shown as the spouse of (Sarah Harvey) LCJM-2RL in Family Tree! I haven't experienced this "behaviour" before (typing in one ID and being presented with another), so assume the "system" recognises the two IDs being for the same James Dunn, who (again I haven't checked thoroughly) has been merged - MM26-923 being the surviving ID, with which M852-VXX has been merged, the latter now being "deleted" from the system.
I have no great expertise in this area, so hope another user will be able to offer clearer advice - on what exactly has happened here, and how best for you to proceed in sorting out your issue.

Glancing through the children a bit more, there are several sets born the same year. Unless they had a bunch of twins, it does look like some bad merges may have brought in some extraneous children. To fix those, you start with the children and research each one, part of which includes checking their change logs to see who their parents originally were. The IGI record will help here. But do not expect any of the children's IGI ID numbers to be in Family Tree either.

Update - A further look through the change log of MM26-923 shows at least 3 other James Dunn IDs have been merged into it. But, I still don't understand why M852-VXX cannot be found. What am I missing here?

M852-VXX, being a Genealogies ID number does not necessarily track into New Family Search. But I don't see what the problem is. James Dunn MM26-923 shows all his individual ordinances completed in 1884 as you say they were. His wife has her B/C and SS completed in 1884. The 1884 I/E are not showing which does not mean they were merged away, it means there is still another duplicate that needs to be merged in to bring in those earlier dates. (The possible merge showing on her page is not her - it has a different husband and children. You probably better mark that as not a merge before someone mistakenly merges it.)
I checked the oldest child and he has ordinances done in 1884 and a sealing to his parents 6 Sept 1957.
Double check this family. It really looks like it's in pretty good shape.
