It is available on my batches. Click on data entry and then click the ruler on or off.

Hey Airland - are you working on an Apple product or some other tablet?
My ruler is gone too on a MacBook.

FYI
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
[ And, I am sorry for intruding, into "Indexing" ... ]
Plus, certainly NOT as "Critical" a problem/issue ...
As, with the ever changing, "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch' ...
But, STILL worth considering ...
WHAT is the AGE of your Computer?
[ ie. Is you Computer, an OLDER Model? ]
WHAT "Operating System" are you using?
WHAT "Browser(s)" do you use?
ARE both, the "Operating System"; and, the "Browser(s)", that you use, "Up-to-Date" with the LATEST (or, al least, the PREVIOUS) "Versions" of each.
Now ...
That Said ...
IF,
▬ your Computer, is an OLD Model; and/or,
▬ you are NOT using, a "Browser(s)", that is (are) "Supported", by 'FamilySearch; and/or,
▬ your "Operating System"; &, "Browser(s)", are, NOT "Up-to-Date"
.... [ ie. WITH, the LATEST (or, al least, the PREVIOUS) "Versions" of each ];
THEN, you MAY experience Problem/Issues, with 'FamilySearch'.
So ...
That Said ...
Expanding ...
[ 1 ]
Is (are), the "Browser(s)" that you use, fully supported by 'FamilySearch'?
Here are a couple of "Knowledge Articles", in 'FamilySearch':
Which internet browsers are compatible?

I got a message that the site does not support this browser

Is BOTH, the "Operating System"; and, the "Browser(s)", that you use "Up-to-Date".
'FamilySearch', really only, fully supports, the LATEST; &, PREIOUS, 'Versions', of "Operating Systems"; &, "Browsers".
As per the previous/aforementioned "Knowledge Article" ...
Which internet browsers are compatible?
Where, it states, among other things:
Quote
------------------
You have the best experience on the FamilySearch website when you use a supported browser. The supported browsers give you the latest features and provide the best performance and security.
The website supports the current Windows and Mac operating system (OS) versions and one version back.

Have you tired, "Clearing" the, "Cookies"; and, "Cache", of the "Bowser(s)", that you are using?
[ And, even, the "Browsing History" ... ]
An "Oldie"; but, STILL, a "Goodie" ...
More often than not, it seem to enable things to work, which did not ...
[ But, of course, not always ... ]
Here are some "Knowledge Articles", in 'FamilySearch':

I am NOT suggesting, that any of this, WILL make a difference ...
But ...

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.
Good Luck.

My laptop is about 10 years old but has been working great on all the Family Search sites for years. I do not know the answer to all your other questions because I am old and not an IT person at all - LOL. I use google chrome? Thanks

FYI
I totally understand ...
I am also a Senior Citizen ...
But ...
Have some "Computer" knowledge/skills ...
And, I help/assist others ...
IF, you are a Member of the Church; THEN, can I suggest, that you get someone from your Ward/Branch/Stake/District to help/assist, to try to make sure, that everything is up-to-date (as it can be) on your "Laptop".
Whereas ...
IF, you are a NOT a Member of the Church; THEN, can I suggest, that you try to get along, to a "Family History Centre", of the Church (or, an 'FamilySearch' "Affiliate" Library), nearest you; where, hopefully, some of the Staff, MAY, be able to help/assist you, to try to make sure, that everything is up-to-date (as it can be) on your "Laptop".
I have helped/assisted, a number of Patrons, to our Local "Family History Centre", of the Church, over the Years, to make sure that their "Laptops", are using the most up-to-date "Versions" of, "Operating Systems"; and, "Browsers" (eg. 'Google' "Chrome"), that they can.
Good Luck.
Brett
ps: You may; even, be able to get, someone at your Local (Civic) Library, to help/assist you.
..... [ As, it is not TOO difficult ... ]
pps: Nothing ventured, nothing gained ...

My computer is up to date and should be working fine to see the ruler. If you are working on a Mac laptop, it will have an apple in the top left corner and usually on the cover. When you click the apple in the corner and then see About this Mac, it will have a screen that tells us what operating system you are using, the version, and also the type of device with a date that it was manufactured.
@John Empoliti would you be so kind as to check and see if you have a ruler on your mac? Then we will know if the moderators need to let the IT dept know there is a problem, or if it is on our side.
I do love all of Brett's advice to you on how to get help. Your laptop might just be out of the range to update, but, usually they are not.

Melissa S Himes I am on a MacBook Air , Mac OS Big Sur 11.0.1, Safari 14.0.1
My ruler turns off and on no problem. I use it on some batches and not others. I tried it just now to make sure it was still working.

@Melissa S Himes - On my iPad Pro, I was able to show and hide the ruler successfully. I don't have an actual Apple Mac desktop or laptop.

It works now! Thanks everyone

Ah. Self-healing technology. Love it.

Glad to hear your ruler is back, @airland.
Still no ruler in my world, @John Empoliti - never did like rulers. 🤣
@LarryClark43 you might need to update; Big Sur is up to 11.6.5 and Safari is 15.3.

Melissa S Himes I have tried to update but my connection is so slow that it never finishes. It always drops out and then just starts over before the download is finished. That could be me doing something wrong as I know very little about how all of this is supposed to work.
I guess when my ruler disappears I will have to get some one to help me update.

Got into Family Search for accessing names, reservations, and printing ordinance cards in April 2023 on an Apple Mac desktop. Now in June the exact same procedure to access won’t work. Get an “oops” message and suggestion to refresh. Refreshing results in a closed loop, right back to where we were. There have been earlier blocks to access since April.
Has something happened between Family Search and Apple operating systems since April?

Make sure that your operating system and safari are updated. Reset the familysearch cookies at:
www.familysearch.org/cookies
See if that works. You might want to clear your browser history if this doesn't help.
