Hi

I'm currently trying to index the above records and the first entry I've tried to do I have a question! The first people I see are Mrs & Miss Fogarty. There is no other information to distinguish between these two other thatn their titles - Mrs or Miss. Unfortunately this field is not included amongst the fields to be completed. It means I'll be creating two entries that are exactly the same and this seems a little silly to me, especially when there is information in the record to distinguish that they are two different people.

I know that whoever is searching for that record will look at the original image and see there are 2 people but it seems strange not to include the Mrs and Miss in the information I am indexing.

So I guess my question is, should I create two entries that just show the information Forgarty - female or should I just create one entry?

Here's the batch

For most projects, unless specifically instructed otherwise in the project instructions, you would only create one record for this situation. I cannot access that particular batch so cannot check your project instructions.

The researchers will find both when they access the original record.

Is there a prefix field? If so, you could create 2 entries by using the prefix field. I can't see the batch either. Hopefully someone who has access to the Australia batches will be able to bring more insight soon.

    Hello Ksalers & Larry

    Thanks for your responses.

Ksalers - There is no prefix field which is what I meant by "missing" field in my title. It just seemed strange that it was not included amongst the fields to be indexed.

I'll go with what you suggest Larry because I read the instructions and could not find anything to cover this situation (plus it seems stupid to create two identical entries).
