duplicate messages are rarely if ever, an issue with the cookies or the cache
When you say they are "clearly not duplicates" where is that based on you looking? is that based on your looking at your entire GALLERY?
How many items do you have in your gallery? It is critical you are looking at the gallery to determine duplicates and not just the person record you were uploading to.
Keep in mind "duplicate" does not mean that it is a duplicate just in respect to the person you are uploading it to.
Rather - duplicates are based on the same item already being in your gallery - you must look at your gallery tab to see if you truly have duplicates or not. (the gallery is a compilation of ALL your uploads no matter who they are linked to) and in some cases you will have items in your gallery that never got linked to anyone (either intentionally or by fluke in the upload process)
"Duplicate" does NOT mean that it has already been linked to the person you are currently trying to upload it it. (it may or may not be there)
Often what will happen is you are attempting to load set of photos to a particular person. and the upload only half way works (though you may feel it didn't work at all) - - the upload may have uploaded the photo to your gallery - but it may or may not always link it to the person that you were uploading it to. So in such cases - indeed you may not see the duplicate on the person record you were uploading it to - BUT you will see it if you go to your gallery tab and look for where you will probably find that it never got linked to the person you intended it to. In which case you will need to complete the 2nd step of the process by doing the link (by creating a person tag)
Things like this happen especially if you are uploading more than one item at a time, or if an item was very large and took a long time, or if you have a slow internet, or if your connection is unstable.
In short the FS memories upload process is a two step process - the first step being something that happens "behind the scenes". The 1st step is that the item is uploaded to your gallery. (this step you really dont see - its behind the scenes) the 2nd step is that item is finally linked to the person you were uploading it to.
Because of things outside of the control of FS it is quite possible that the 1st step was successful - but the 2nd step was not. in which case if you try again - you will indeed get a "duplicate" message - even when you clearly do not see the image on the person record you were uploading it to. That link-step never got executed in some cases - but the 1st load to gallery step did get executed - and you have to go to the GALLERY to see the duplicated item (not the person record of the person you were trying to upload to)
once you find it i your gallery you will need to person tag it to the correct person if this did not occur as it should have.
