In the help Center there is an excellent article called: How do I use the Record My Story activity?

Use the Record My Story activity to add stories of your life to FamilySearch Memories.

Steps to record a story on the website

After you record your story, it appears in your Memories Gallery as an audio file.

    1. Sign in to FamilySearch.
    2. Near the top of the screen, click Activities.
    3. Click Record My Story.
    4. Click a topic
    5. Click a specific question to answer.
    6. To make a recording, click the red circle.
    7. As prompted, allow FamilySearch to use your microphone.
    8. Tell your story.
    9. Click done.
    10. You can listen to your recording and decide if you want to save it. Click Cancel to start over. Click Save to save the story.

Steps to type a story on the website

After you type your story, it appears in your Memories Gallery as a story.

    1. Sign in to FamilySearch
    2. Near the top of the screen, click Activities.
    3. Click Record My Story.
    4. Click a topic
    5. Click a specific question to answer.
    6. Click type my response.
    7. Type your story, and click Save.

    Steps for mobile apps

    1. Open the FamilySearch Family Tree app on your mobile device.
    2. Tap the 3 lines icon.
      1. For Apple iOS devices, look in the bottom right.
      2. For Android devices, look in the top left.
    3. Tap Family History Activities.

Your device routes you to the FamilySearch website, where you can record your story using the earlier website instructions.
