Why fix what ISN'T broken?
For weeks I've been hearing tons of people gripe about your new search page. Everyone hates it. I figured it was no big deal, and I hadn't been searching with it anyway.
Tonight I went to search. Oh my! That search page/function STINKSk big time. It is cumbersome to use, it doesn't provide a good view and it worked well before, so why the heck did you mess it up?
I can't figure why you would take a well working feature and change it, make it almost unrecognizable, and awkward to use.
Please change it back. Because others like myself will be going to your competitors that have functioning search engines. It's sad when we have to go off of FamilySearch to do research not because you don't have the data, but because you make it cumbersome to find that data.

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
As, you are referring to, the "Changes" of, the NEW "Search Records"; and, the resulting "Results" page/screen; then ...
You are certainly not alone ...
We are ALL 'Struggling' ...
And, just in case you, were not aware ...
Here are some FOUR (x4) posts, in date (and, post) order of being posted, from someone, stating, to be part of the 'FamilySearch' Team that, 'Designed'; and, 'Developed", the the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", which appears, in some of the posts, to give some "Instruction", on HOW to use the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records".

FamilySearch Employee Responding to Search Page Feedback
I hope, that some of the information in these posts, may offer some help/assistance.
And ...
There are OTHER posts throughout this Forum, where the instigator of the above posts has responded with, advice; direction; instruction; help/assistance, on the NEW "Results" page/screen, of "Records Search" ('FamilySearch').
Now ...
That Said ...
You may like to ADD, your thoughts/comments, in those particular posts; so that, your thoughts/comments, like those of MANY other UNHAPPY Users/Patrons, ARE 'seen', by the Team, in 'FamilySearch', that 'Designed'; and, 'Developed" the NEW look "Search".
As you can 'see' from those posts ...
DESPITE, all the NEGATIVE 'Feedback', with regard to the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", from those that matter, the 'lowly' User/Patrons, where the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", was 'foisted' upon them; BEFORE, being "Fully" released to ALL User/Patrons - 'FamilySearch' RELEASED the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", to ALL Users/Patrons.
As I already suggested ...
You are not alone ...
We are ALL 'Struggling'; and, NEED "Help", with the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", which is NOT very 'User Friendly'.
MOST Users/Patrons want the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records" to be "Reverted" BACK to the PREVIOUS "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records".
But ...
That Said ...
SADLY, I doubt that will happen ...
And ...
Finally ...
'FamilySearch' has made, MINOR "Changes", to the NEW "Search Records"; and, the resulting "Results" page/screen, hopefully such will keep occurring ...
I know, that this may NOT help/assist; but, I hope, that this gives you, some additional, insight; and, perspective.

We are all creatures of habit. I was pretty unhappy at first, but now I really like the EASE with which I can switch my search results between different types of collections. THAT is very cool and wasn't nearly as easy before.

Like many others I find that the results given by the new search engine are not as good as previously. That is very concerning and disappointing. But on the other hand:
- FS may not have a choice about the change. If a piece of code or software that the old search engine depended on was suddenly discontinued, they would have been forced to make changes at short notice. A similar thing happened with "My Cases" last year.
- People always take time to adapt to change, and will instinctively complain about changes.
- Complainers will always be more vocal than those who are satisfied.
If I were FamilySearch, I would make improving the results from the search engine an urgent priority, but would not try to change the user interface unless a random survey of FS Users showed high levels of dissatisfaction. The users and posters of this forum are not a reliable, random sample of FS users.

My position is rather different from most of the users who have complained. I'm coping quite well with the quality of the search results - I had plenty of problems with this aspect when using the old interface.
My big problem is with the interface itself - like the pages subsequently produced in selecting a "result" and then "View Record", it's the pages themselves that are so difficult to read. As others have complained: not enough records (without scroll, scroll, scroll) on the Results pages. True, the (View) Record page is a different feature, but still the same page design / fonts, which make viewing census records almost impossible.
Viewing the records from the Sources sections (once attached to an ID in Family Tree) is fine - as it always was - so why the dreadful revamp of the way both the Search and Results pages are now presented?
This is why I always support posts that suggest gong back to the old interface - I'm afraid I will never get used to this messy, "in your face" presentation - primarily introduced with smart phones in mind.
In summary, I've adapted quite well in finding the (required) results, but still experience headaches in order to view / compare / analyse them afterwards.

Thank you so very much for your comments, no one likes change, but FamilySearch are trying to give you the very best service. I wish you well in your FamilySearch journey.

Thank you for the well-wishes. My "FamilySearch journey" is already over ten years along, so I am very familiar with the many changes over the years - including the introduction of "Family Tree", of which I have been a participant almost from the start.
It is not "change" that I am adverse to - only that which transpires to be counterproductive in relation to its original intention. There have been some excellent enhancements over the years and I am full of praise for the ease in which FamilySearch developers have made possible my success in discovering (many branches of) my ancestry.
Unfortunately, the new Search interface has simply proved to be a retrogressive move, whereby hundreds of users have vented their frustration (in Community and elsewhere) at the difficulties they are (still) encountering in both finding and viewing the records produced. Yet there have only been minor (albeit unacknowledged) changes by the engineers and no acknowledgment at all (from a FamilySearch manager) of the real pain this has caused to many loyal users - some of whom have been driven away from this website.
Thank you for your understanding and your advice that you have passed these concerns to a "higher authority", as one would think (from their lack of response, hitherto) that senior managers are completely unaware of the ongoing problems in using the "Search" facility.
