What is the volunteer project ? PID MVG5-XHH lists her birth as Cherokee Tribe, North America. When clicking on the latest changes, it shows "birth changed by volunteer project."

At the moment, there is a known, intermittent problem whereby the Groups section cannot be fully utilised. For example, Brett's screenshot shows, "No groups were found". My search (just now) for the "Canada" group produced the same message. Brett provides a useful link - which, I just found, does appear to be working, at the minute!

    Debbie

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    Firstly ...

    Selecting that "Birth" Record ...

    image.png

    Closeup ...

    image.png

The 'Place Name', for the Place of Birth, was NOT a "Standard"; which, evoked, a "Data Problem'.

[ ie. the 'Red' "Exclamation Mark" ... ]

    ChangeLog ...

    image.png

Hence, the 'Place Name', for the Place of Birth, was most likely, "Standardised", by the "Improve Place Names" Project.

    Secondly ...

Please be, aware; and, advised ...

That the "Volunteer Project", is part of 'FamilySearch'; being, a "Project" (and, a "Process"); whereby, "Place Names", that evoke a "Data Error"; because, they are NOT "Standardised", are addressed/corrected.

Improve the accuracy of Family Tree.

You can help by associating a user-entered place with a standard place found on a map.

    What you will do:

    1. See the user-entered place. Compare it to the places in other life events.

    2. Add the standard place that is most similar to what the user entered. What you add will not overwrite or delete the user-entered place. Skip to the next person if you are unsure.

Note: If you prefer, select a country or location below to review places from a specific country or location.

    ------------------

The "Volunteer Project", involves Users/Patrons, working, to HELP "Improve", "Place Names".

There are NO, "Sources"; nor, "Reason Statements".

Hence, the "Contact Name"; being, that of "Volunteer Project", rather than that of an individual User/Patron.

    As an aside ...

Perhaps, the the "Contact Name" SHOULD be something like "FamilySearch, Volunteer Project"

    [ just a passing thought ... ]

    Now ...

Here are some Articles, in the 'FamilySearch" "Blog":

Thank you for clarifying . I am helping someone trying to verify their Native American heritage. I will take that into account but wish it was a source. Oh , well. The research continues in Wiki. 😁

    Debbie

    Again, just in passing ...

Not that I can be of any help/assistance ...

    But ...

    That Said ...

    As an aside ...

IF, you are not aware; and/or, have not already; THEN, ...

There is a 'Group', in the "Groups" Section of this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, that you may wish to consider "Joining" (especially, if your are not already a member); and, resubmitting this post of your, in that particular 'Group'.

The members of the 'Groups', are only too will to help/assist; where, they can.

And, please be aware, that one must "Join" a 'Group', to submit a post, in a 'Group'.

The particular 'Group" to which I refer is:

    "Groups" Section

    Good Luck.

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.
