I have a person that is constantly adding false information to one of the branches of my tree - for example, a second spouse to my just deceased mother, when I try to delete this person I am told I can not delete it and contact support.

This information is false! The person that added it is not even related!! Please help what can I do - I have messaged the person that added and they do not reply - in hoping to get their attention I have changed the name as you will see below.

@TaniaMorton, OK, so that explains it: since your mom's husband is living, only you can see the profile that you created for him. To the rest of us, it just looks like she's not married (and has no children).

The other user appears to be unaware that Mr. Morton is still living. As I said above, you have a couple of choices for how to deal with this.

One, you can go to your mom's profile, find the other contributor's name (such as in the Change Log), and send her a message. Point out that the profile she created and added is for a living person. She should be able to go to the profile and change its status from "deceased" to "living". Once she does that, it will go into her private space, meaning that nobody else -- including you -- will see it.

The other option is to initiate the change in status yourself. Go to the profile and click Edit next to the death. Click the circle for Living, click Save, then fill out the "how do you know" box. (It doesn't need to be anything elaborate: "I'm his daughter" will do just fine.) A FamilySearch employee will review the request and make the change. As I said, this can take a day or so, but once it's done, the profile will disappear from your view, because it will be put in the private space of the user who created it.

It's impossible to tell which method would be faster, because there are many options for how FamilySearch notifies a user about messages. Some people have it set to be immediately notified by email or text, while others have to log in to FS to see the little red dot. This means that the first method could have results within minutes, but could take months (if the person only has time for genealogy in the summer, say). The second method is unlikely to take even a week, but it is dependent on the judgement of a stranger.

Use the pencil in a box edit button in the relationship area and remove the relationship. You cannot delete a person you did not add but you can remove relationships.

As far as I can tell, last June another user added a husband to your mom with just a surname of "Morton". This seems to me to be a reasonable assumption to make based on how you've entered her surname as "Morton nee Barwis". Are you saying that your mom did not in fact ever have a husband with the surname Morton?

If your mom did not have a husband, then you can remove the relationship, as Cindy explained. If she did have a husband, just not with that name, then the easiest is to edit the attached spouse's profile to the correct name. If she did have a husband, but he's still living, then only the person who creates his profile will be able to see it. This may explain the other user's actions. If this is the case, then my suggestion is to revert the profile to what the other user entered, and then mark it as living. A FamilySearch employee will need to get involved, which will take a day or so, but eventually the profile will disappear from your view, and go into the private space of the user who created it. The alternative is to send a message to the other user, explaining that she has created a profile for a living person and should mark it as such.

If none of my scenarios are correct, then you'll need to explain further.
