Indexing US, Missouri—County Marriages, 1806–1969 [Part P] [M9Y2-R26] Only License and Return Dates
I want to index this batch but the page only provides License Date and Return Date. There is no marriage date provided. What do I do? The instructions don't seem to cover this.

This was located in the field help when you click the purple question mark.
If a marriage date was not indicated, type the date based on the following priority:
- License date
- Latest banns date
- Consent date
- Recording date
If no date other than a birth date was recorded, press Ctrl+B to mark this field blank.
In the examples it shows them indexing the earlier date as the wedding date and not the recording date.
I would index the Issue Date as the wedding date. I assume that is the date the license was issued and would be considered the "License date".

I found this in the instructions.
- Index any primary marriage record or associated document that has the name of a bride or a groom, even if the document does not contain a date. Documents to index include marriage licenses, indexes, marriage applications, and so forth.
In the field help it says,
If a marriage date was not indicated, type the date based on the following priority:
- License date
- Latest banns date
- Consent date
- Recording date
In the examples provided they use the earliest date and do not use the "recording date".
I put the "Issue Date" down for the marriage date.

@Ksalers - Thank you spot on. I actually have indexed for decades but haven't done much for the past several years. I know about field help but forgot you have to click on the field to get the question mark. Dumb rookie mistake. Thanks for the quick reply. Off and running.

I have taken many breaks and it can take me a moment to get back into the swing of things when I index. I am glad I was able to help! :)
