Is there a way to import raw data from an AncestryDNA test results file into FamilySearch?

Is there a way to import raw data from an AncestryDNA test results file into FamilySearch? I recently took an AncestryDNA autosomal DNA test and downloaded the test results (text) file. Is there a way to import the raw data from that file into FamilySearch to help identify potential family members? And if so, how?

Thanks!

There is no matching process available on the FamilySearch website. It does not mean that the institution disapproves of science. If you want to match with those who have tested on sites other than Ancestry, then you can upload your results to one of those other sites - gedmatch.com and ftdna.com are two places that accept uploads of your results.

FamilySearch has help articles on DNA and a DNA page accessible from the bottom of the home page. But they have decided to stay out of the genealogical DNA test market and do not endorse or recommend any particular DNA test.

There is no place designated for DNA results. You can add them to each person in the Other information area, in the Comments or in Notes. You might be able to add them as a source but the source would be general since that data is not usually available to anyone but the tester and their matches.

That would not help since I am was hoping FamilySearch could use the data to find ancestors via DNA matches from other tested relatives, in essence building a DNA network.

I can, however, understand how a religious institution might disapprove of a science-based method, particularly in these polarized times.

    Thank you.

Thank you to all those who took the time to respond. I did not mean to imply that FamilySearch or any particular church disapproves of science.

I meant that I can understand (not agree or disagree with them) IF they do. I know, from personal experience, that some churches (particularly fundamentalists do, especially in these polarized times and specifically during this pandemic).

    Once again, thank you.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints loves truth! Be it 'science' or any other truth! FamilySearch will let us add dna to our profiles and to our families profiles but does not do dna itself. Those are commercial businesses. That is not to say that specific provisions to link dna won't be added in the future. You might consider going to the IDEAS community and suggest your ideas.

    @RicMelton1

    Ric

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

Further to; and, in support of, what has already been proffered ...

    Unfortunately ...

'FamilySearch', currently, DOES NOT, have the capabilities to record DNA.

[ We can but live in hope ... ]

As far as I am aware, there are OTHER 'On-Line' Websites, with such capabilities.

    And ...

Here is a "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch':

Using DNA in family history research

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/using-dna-in-family-history-research

Where it states, among other things:

    Quote:

    ------------------

Please note that FamilySearch does not endorse or recommend any commercial DNA applications for genetic genealogy.

Nor does our Family Tree provide specific features to post or link DNA groups based on DNA matches.

    ------------------

    But ...

    That Said ...

'FamilySearch' does suggest, that DNA Testing, DOES NOT replace traditional forms of Genealogical/Family History research; BUT, rather, that DNA Testing CAN complement a well-documented "Family Tree".

    And ...

    Certainly NOT forgotten ...

'FamilySearch' provides information and recourses to help navigate DNA in Genealogical/Family History research.

Here are just some of the resources:

To add to Brett's very informative post, RootsTech is coming up and it will have classes related to DNA. While these are not matching features the classes will help understand DNA research and give some ideas for research tools.
