How do I find a date of death and place of death with only a place and date of birth?

I'm trying to find the date and place of death for my great aunt. I have her birth record. She was born in 1902 in Lincoln,RI. Her family then moved to New Bedford, MA. On the 1910 census, it states 8 children born and 5 survived so she must of died before that census. I can't find any death info for her.

@KerrieNolan1 It might help others to help you if you gave a link to the person in question, such as their person ID.

In general though, if you only know the birth info, then it won't help to narrow down the death records search to any useful degree.

If you know the probable location of the death, then you can narrow it down, and if you can bracket the approximate year within say five years, then you will have fewer records to trawl through. BUT, you run in to the problem that her death might not have been recorded accurately. If there are name variations, you will need to allow for this. If there are mistakes in writing or transcribing her age, you might need to allow for that.

Don't shy away from searching other sources of information. Sometimes a general search of the web for a specific name and a specific place can produce results from newspapers and other genealogical sources sometimes even those compiled by family members.

    Hi,

Thanks for responding. Her name on the birth record is Marie Georgina Martel. Her ID is GCNH-8VT. She was born 17 January 1902 in Manville, Lincoln, Rhode Island. I have a copy of her birth record. Her father's first name is spelled incorrectly on the birth record. On the birth record it states his name as Honori Martel. The correct spelling is Honore Martel. Her mother's last name is spelled incorrectly on the birth record. On the birth record it states her name as Demerise St Jelais. The correct spelling is Demerise St Gelais. Both parents were from Quebec, Canada. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to New Bedford, MA. On the 1910 census in New Bedford, MA it shows (8) children born and (5) survived. I have accounted for (7) children. I contacted the Rhode Historical Society regarding another child and they told me about this child. They do not show a death record for her and they looked up to 1920 under her birth name. I'm assuming she was baptized as all the other children were. Honore Martel & Demerise St Gelais are my 2nd great grandparents. There are no family notes on Marie Georgina as well as the other (2) children that died young. Those (2) children died in Canada and I have their info.
