FamilyTree mobile app appears to only support the Family History accounts and does not provide an option to specify my Church Account Credentials.
Hello @robegbert1 thankyou for coming to Community for help with your issue. Could you please explain further what you are trying to do on the mobile app that you are unable to do? Hopefully then we can help answer your question 😊
Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]
Just in passing ...
'Yes' ... That is CORRECT ...
As far as I can recall, we have NEVER been able to "Sign Into", Our "Church" Account, directly from our 'FamilySearch' Account; and, that was BOTH, (1) the ORIGINAL "Computer" Web "Version", of 'FamilySearch' and, (2) the "Mobile" Application "Version", of 'FamilySearch'.
That Said ...
We could COULD "Sign Into", our 'FamilySearch' Account, using the "Credentials", of Our Our "Church" Account - although, that DID NOT actually sign us into Our "Church" Account - such ONLY logs us into our 'FamilySearch' Account, recognising us; as, a Member of the Church.
Please be, aware; and, advised ...
That BOTH, (1) the ORIGINAL "Computer" Web "Version", of 'FamilySearch' and, (2) the "Mobile" Application "Version", of 'FamilySearch', ARE separate "Programmes", although, they work in the SAME "Database".
The ORIGINAL "Computer" Web "Version", of 'FamilySearch'; and, the "Mobile" Application "Version", have different/separate "Teams" working on them - they 'look' and operate slightly different to each other.
Although, STILL, "Linked", to a certain degree ...
There HAS recently been, a certain DEGREE, of separation, between, Our "Church" Account; and, our 'FamilySearch' Account.
Here is a "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch':
We can STILL, get access, to our 'FamilySearch' Account, through Our "Church" Account.
When, we "Sign Into", Our "Church" Account, our 'FamilySearch' Account can be found and accessed, from our/the "Dashboard", under 'Quick Links" (ie. 'FamilySearch'), on the 'right-hand-side' of the page/screen.
I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.
Just to head this issue in the direction that the suggestion is indicating, the Mobile Apps do not allow "Sign In with Church Account." This feature is only on the Sign In page on the web application at FamilySearch.org. You can see it as a button under the username and password fields on the sign in page. It looks like this:
To add it to the Mobile Apps is a recommendation made by many who have Church Accounts and wish to use their Church account for signing into the mobile apps (Memories, Family Tree, and Get Involved) as opposed to manually creating a password at FamilySearch.org and then signing into the mobile apps with their FamilySearch credentials.
As of now, this feature is only available when signing in using a web browser. Some who like to keep it simple would prefer to just use the Church account credentials everywhere--even on the mobile apps. But they can't because mobile apps are not web apps and the mobile app operating platform for signing in just doesn't communicate the same as it does across web pages in the same browser. Think of it this way. If you sign in with your church account on one browser on your computer and then go to another browser on the same computer and expect that you will be signed in there, too, you would be disappointed in that expectation. Similarly, the apps on the phone don't pass credentials to each other or to the browser the same way that web pages do within the same browser platform.
Note: Before the split everyone had a church account--both members and non-members. And this feature still works for anyone (church member or public account holder) who either continues to use their church account to sign in or has created a church account since the split and then used that sign in to create their FamilySearch account.
