I notice that someone added a line of ancestors that are not correct. my family paid a researcher to find our Italian ancestors and what the researcher found does not match what someone added to the tree. How can this be corrected?

It is possible for you to edit and correct relationships in Family Tree. Since this is a shared Family Tree and there are many contributors, it is always a good idea to collaborate with others who share your same ancestors. In the Latest Changes section of an ancestor's person page, you can find the display name of someone who made changes, then click on their name and send a message.

With that being said, here are two articles from the Help Center that give step-by-step instructions for removing or replacing incorrect spouses and correcting parent-child relationships.

We hope this helps, and best wishes as you collaborate and make corrections in Family Tree.

Thank you. I have reached out to the person who made the contributions. We will see what happens. I am being told that the Family Search tree is not necessarily accurate since anyone can contribute because the tree is not private. I know now not to rely on the tree and that makes things easier. If I can't get it changed, I will just ignore it.

We appreciate you willingness to change what you can, and not stress about the rest. That is the best anyone can do when striving for accuracy in our section of Family Tree.
