Deleting a new account in FamilySearch when member already has one, how to delete new account?
Steps (website)
- Sign in to the FamilySearch account you want to delete.
- Click your name in the top-right corner of the window and select Settings.
- Select the Account tab and scroll to the bottom.
- Click Delete Account.
- A new window appears, asking you to verify that you want to permanently delete your account. Click Continue.
- Enter your username and password and sign in again to verify your identity.
- Click the red Delete Account button.
- Your account is deleted.
After following the above instructions, from #1 -#5 above, it does not indicate whether to type in the new username and password or the original username and password -- in both cases, FamilySearch did not accept them. And there was no red Delete button afterward. How can I help this user?

- Your access to edit living and deceased contributions to Familysearch.org
- Indexing totals and reviewer privileges
What remains?
- Information you added to Family Tree
- Memories (photos, stories, documents, audio files) you added
- GEDCOMs you uploaded

Important Notes:

FYI
Seriously ...
I would humbly suggest, that THAT is the EAXCT "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch', that 'Christy' ACTUALLY quoted from in her original post.
That being:
How do I delete my FamilySearch Account?
https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-delete-my-familysearch-account
And ...
'Christy' has ALREADY indicated ...
That there is (ie. appears to be) a problem/issue at Step 6.
Enter your username and password and sign in again to verify your identity.
Where "Entering" the "Username" and "Password", DOES NOT work.

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
It would most likely be, for the 'FamilySearch' Account, that one wishes to "Delete".
[ Rather, than for any NEW 'FamilySearch' Account, that had been created ... ]
I am just, thinking out aloud, here ...
Question: Was, the "User Name"; or, the "Contact Name", entered?
There are FOUR (x4) DIFFERNT "Names" that are recorded for us Users/Patrons ...
They being:
Full Name ... ( Private )
Username ... ( Always Private )
Contact Name ... ( Always Public )
[ A public name linked to your contributions enables people to send you messages ]
Display Name ... ( Private )
Now ...
That Said ...
The "Knowledge Articles' specifically states: Username
Make certain, that it is the Username, for the 'FamilySearch Account, that is being "Deleted", that is tried in the FISRT instance.
As, often Users/Patrons, confuse/use their Contact Name; when, in fact, it such should be their Username.
Now ...
That said ...
IF, the Username, DOES NOT, work; THEN, I would suggest trying the Contact Name, just to be certain.
Whereas ...
IF, neither, of those "Names", work; THEN, there may be a definite Problem/issue ...
Plus ...
Just to be 100% certain ...
Make certain that CORRECT Username is being used.
Of course, that appear, towards the TOP, of the "Account" 'Tab', of the "Settings", under "Names".
Good Luck.
I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.
