indexing surnames

I get frustrated when I am indexing a long list of surnames and a list of previous names pops up. Example, I used the name Harrison and later came to Harris and when I hit return to move to the next field the name Harrison is then put into the surname field. Is there anyway to delete or turn off that feature? I don't always catch the mistake.

You can turn off the Auto Complete.

Click on Batch in top left corner, Click on Settings, Click Auto Complete, turn it off.

Good! I was always frustrated by auto complete too. With long lists of the same surname, or fields with the same information, using the copy text forward icons works better for me. Or the keyboard shortcuts for duplicating a field - Ctrl + D. (Cmd + D on a Mac) or fields - (Option + Shift + D). You can also duplicate whole entries with that 3rd Copy icon (or Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + D). The keyboard shortcut list is accessed by clicking on the Help Tab. You might like those alot!
