Help with South African Death Notices

I am reviewing the death notices. Some of the batches have 2 images, the first image is the death notice and the second image is the cause of death notice. They are for same person but different forms. Should the second image be indexed or put no extractable info. Both images have date of death, name etc. The only extra info on the cause of death is what they died from.

If these are the records you are referring to please index each record even though the data is similar. They are not duplicates. Researchers work to get as many sources as they can find to verify each fact. These two records are two sources so that is great!

It is really helpful if you share the batch code (the letters and numbers in brackets after the project title) to get an accurate answer.

That's great thank you. What about where it has name of spouse and on the form it has spouse and then also previous spouses as well. Do they just put most recent spouse

The project instructions will guide you on the spouse question:

What to Remember About This Project: 6th bullet point.

    • Spouses may be recorded as living, deceased, or divorced. If more than 1 spouse was recorded, index the name of the deceased's most recent spouse. Additional records should not be created for other spouses listed on the document.

I was confused by your question on the two images in the same batch. It would be really best to see the batch. This could be a situation where the record spans two images and then it would be indexed on the first image and the second would be marked NED. You can read more about it in the General Indexing Guidelines and decide.
