GENDER CORRECTION
My Uncle Ronald Cooke deceased 31/08/1983 is reflected in Cemetry Records as FW (Female, White) on the original record. He should be recorded as M/W, Male,White in the transcript. Page 126/255 entry 32.
"South Africa, Cape Province, Cemetery Records, 1886-2010", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QPHW-1F1K : 5 November 2019), Ronald Cooke, 1983.
Can it be rectified?

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
Unfortunately ...
That, is a "Correction", that CANNOT be made, on the actual "Index", for that Record.
As, the actual "Record" (and, associated, "Image" of that Record) for that "Gender", for you Uncle, appears ( ie. is recorded) as "F W" ( ie. "Female White).
Now ...
That Said ...
The best way to address, that ACTUAL "Discrepancy", is to do so; AFTER, the "Source" (ie. Record), is attached to your Uncle; and, then, you make a "Note" of such, in, the "Title"; and, the "Describe the Record (Notes)"; and, the "Reason to Change Source", for that particular "Source".
I know, that this not what you desire; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective; and, another avenue to pursue.
Brett
ps: Despite the unfortunate "Discrepancy", the actual "Index", DID its job; and, you WERE, at least, able to "Find", that ("Cemetery") Record for your Uncle's "Burial".

While this is a correctable collection, the sex is not among the correctable fields, so no, this error cannot be corrected in the index. However, you found the record, so the index served its purpose despite the error.
As I say almost daily in these forums, keep in mind that the index is not the data. It is merely a finding aid for the data.
