Somebody edited my ancestors record with a place of marriage and place of births for his children but I cannot find a source for the change. Is this common. I`d like to know where they got the info.

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

[ As you appear to be, relatively new to the Forum ... ]

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    I gather, that your are referring to, the Couple William RUTLEDGE ( LZXB-97X ); &, Catherine ( LLWC-CNM ).

    And, their Children.

Short Answers: 'Yes'; and, that is a very good question.

    FISRTLY ...

"Sources" (and/or, the EAXCT "Details", of any OFFICIAL "Records"), DO NOT, need to be supplied; as, they, are NOT; and, CANNOT, be MANDATORY.

    SECONDLY ...

IF, you are referring, to the "Event", of "Marriage", for the above Couple; being, "about 1818, Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland", that was applied on 28 April 2020; THEN, perhaps, you could try, to send a 'Message', through "User Messaging", of 'FamilySearch', to the particular User/Patron, who ADDED that "Event'; being, 'Erin Patrick_1'.

You can also do the SAME, for ANY of the "Records", for them or their Children; provided, that the User/Patron, is NOT 'FamilySearch'.

    As an aside ...

IF, you cannot, find anything in the "Records", in 'FamilySearch'; THEN, ...

Here, is a FREE (Government) 'On-Line' Website; where, you may able to confirm such ...

    Good Luck.

    Just my thoughts.

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat; and, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective; plus, another avenue to pursue.
