When the first name of the child is all that is listed under child's Christin name and no surname, I understand that I put the surname as blank and then list the father and mother with the surname? Is this correct.

I have been checking other's previous work and I am seeing it both ways (listing just the first given name) and (putting the parents surname on the child's name.) I want to make sure I am doing it correctly.

You are correct. This project instructions, field helps, and the example show that the surname is not indexed for the child when it was not included with their given name.
