I just discovered a person in my tree is NOT an ancestor. How do I remove him?

I tried editing his name out (deleted it from the edit form) but I was not allowed to save it

You will need to correct or remove the relationship of the incorrect ancestor.
Here is a link to correct a child to parent relationship
Here is a link to remove an incorrect spouse
If these links do not solve your issue, please reply with more information so we can try to better assist you.
Good Luck!

Don't edit the person, edit the relationship(s).
The Family Tree on FamilySearch is a single, collaborative tree that we all work on together. Profiles on the tree should not be "hijacked" (changed into someone else), nor deleted, unless no such person ever existed. If the person existed, just not with the current relationships, then it's the relationships that should be changed. It's OK to leave a profile "floating" (unconnected), if you don't know what family it's actually supposed to go with. Someone will eventually find it and connect it.

Before you remove the person please make sure there isn’t a source, such as a census record, that proves the non-family member was living with this family. I am vigilant about adding people to families when such evidence exists that they live there.

I noticed that some unknown person added 6 generations to my tree on family search. I transferred this info to my Ancestry tree and got a comment in very short order that the first person in this group was not an ancestor. The person who commented added the family history for this person and it looks well researched. So I removed this line of ancestors from my tre on Ancestry but I cannot remove it from the Familysearch tree. Even the last name is misspelled and I don't know who added this line but it is in error.

Can you give us the FamilySearch ID number?

@BrianAkerley1, did you try to follow the instructions that @PasB gave you links to? If yes, where did it break and how?
