Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
And, I am certainly, no authority, when it comes to "Memoires" ...
Just thinking, out aloud ...
I humbly suspect, that the reference to a "Duplicate", is that you have ALREADY associated, that particular "Memory"; as, a Memory to ANOTHER individual/person, in "Family Tree", in 'FamilySearch'.
IF, such is the case; THEN, please be aware, that you can ONLY add a Memory (ie. A particular "File"), ONCE in 'FamilySearch'.
Now ...
That Said ...
After, you add a Memory (ie. A particular "File"), ONCE in 'FamilySearch', to a particular individual/person ...
IF, there are OTHER associated individuals/persons, in that "Memory"; THEN, the way to associate the OTHER individuals/persons, is to, "Tag" the OTHER individuals/persons, in the ORIGINAL "Memory".
That way, the SAME "Memory", ALSO appears, in the "Memories" 'Tab', of the OTHER associated individuals/persons, so "Tagged".
Basically ...
"Upload", a "File" (ie, "Memory"), ONCE ...
"Tag" MULTIPLE individuals/persons, in the associate the "File" (ie. "Memory") to ALL individuals/persons concerned.
Just my thoughts.
I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

If you click on the Memory in your Gallery, it will bring it up in the viewer, and you can put the square around the person, and then add a tag by typing the name (or ID number) in the box below.
Or you may want to add a topic tag to the memory. The article link below give directions.

Good luck

Can you tag the document in the image viewer?
Click on the item in your memories gallery to see a larger view & details, including tagging options?
