The example Indenture document in the instructions does not assist.

The Project Instructions are difficult to determine how to apply - whether to include all individuals (grantors) or just the first listed. The bottom part lists Fred Wilde 'et al' - and the instructions do say not to include 'et al' ... but they also state "Index only the names of individuals granting or receiving the land".

My best guess would be to index each of the individual names (not & wife) as a separate Entry (add in more Entries for Image 4).

But you may want to wait for a moderator or someone that can check with the Project Administrators for further feedback.

Project Instructions, What to Remember about this Project, bullet point 3 includes this statement: "Index only the names of individuals granting or receiving the land from the company or organization."

If they are receiving or granting land then they need to be indexed. Any names in the document that are not grantees or grantors should not be indexed.

Yes, you index every single name just like you did on the other images where the indexer didn't know how to index every individual separately! Good work!

To clarify. In looking at those documents there are quite a few names on the record that are of individuals not owning or selling the land. Recorders, witnesses etc. None of those are indexed. All grantees and grantors except companies, etc are to be indexed.

As far as 'et al' goes it is a term not a name so is not indexed but the NAME of the person associated with that term is indexed.

    Thanks all for the discussion!
