Help with burial record

UK, England, Lancashire—Nonconformist Church Records, 1647–1996 [Part B][MSLY-7QB]

In the second column under burials, April 1749: Third entry: B William Cowle

My question: Is the B part of his name or is it a title?

Also: under August burials: what is the relationship of Ann to William?

Thanks in advance for your time,

Jane

I would index the B as part of the given name. If it is a title, the researcher can correct the name. (later there is another B Elizabeth)

I believe that Ann is the Wf (Wife) of William. The scribe makes the W the same in William and later in The Wife of Alex

he B is something new to me and it's so rare to see an initial at the beginning of a name I wanted another opinion. Thank you very much for your input; I really appreciate it.
