Good Evening,

I have been researching my Jamaican ancestry and have hit a brick wall when researching my second great grandfather. I cannot find a birth certificate for him so that I can try and go back another generation. His name is William Augustus Falconer born around 1881 in St Andrews, Jamaica. His wife was called Marian Elizabeth Campbell born around 1887.

I have a marriage certificate that states that his father was called Richard Falconer but I am unable to find any birth certificate.

I would be grateful for any assistance you can provide.

Civil registration in Jamaica began 1878. In most jurisdictions, a few years passed before there was full compliance. In other words, there may not be a civil birth record for William August Falconer.

There may be a baptismal record, depending on the religion of the family.
