Geneanet, new Merge Duplicate Function. How will this impact the FS Tree?

I don’t really use Geneanet but I do have an account through FamilySearch and I got an email alerting me to their new Duplicates function. I don’t have any experience working with Geneanet, but looking at the “Compare” screen if you can call it that, I am of the opinion right now that this will do more harm than good. I don’t like the idea that you are presented a List of possible duplicates from the entire tree and not just the individual you are working on. I also don’t like the lack of detail to judge. I worry this will be Too Easy and cause incorrect merges. I don’t really know at this point, but time will tell.

As far as I can tell, they're only talking about merging on the Geneanet website, not Family Tree. Does that match your understanding?

@kathryngz , that my be true. At first I did not take it to only mean Geneanet profiles, but I notice now that there are no PIDs listed in their example. Thanks for pointing that out.

@Chas Howell , I sure hope it won't affect Family Tree. I'm with you--when merges are too easy to make, chaos results.
