Why does Family Search have me dead?

It wasn't FamilySearch. If you go to the profile page and in the Vitals section click on View Details, then scroll down to where says deceased, you will be able to see which user declared you as such. If that person has enabled relationship viewing you will be able to see how your are related to him or her. If you recognized the name you may know how to speak to them in a message better. But even if you don't recognized the user name, it would be good if you messaged them and asked them to be more careful in the future. If you haven't used messaging before, just click on the user name to open a popup window then click send a message.

(I have no idea who did make the mistake because I'm not going to even peek at your page. I have no interest it in and everything there should have stayed private.)

Note that the help center article referenced above does state that if only the user who made the mistake has done any editing on the page, that user can immediate change you back to living. So if you message the person right now before anyone else does anything, he can fix it right away. If anyone else does any editing, including you, then you have to go through the alternate process explained in the article.

May I ask where you are seeing yourself listed with the HWZ3BB4 identifier? Are you looking in the FamilySearch Family Tree program? Are you looking in one of the Genealogies such as the Ancestral File or the Pedigree Resource File?

I ask because you posted your concern yesterday and I cannot find any records in Family Tree that have the ID number you mentioned.

Did you find a historical record that shows you are deceased? You can do a name search in Historical Records and often you will find records about yourself because there are many types of records that contain information about individuals who are still living, such as the Kentucky Vital Records Index which contains birth records that are fairly recent. [Vital Records include births, marriages, and deaths, and sometimes burials] The United States Public Records Index also contains many public records that are made available online, and these can be for both living and for deceased individuals.

Knowing where you see the record that has you marked deceased is helpful. Please let us know if you are able to resolve your concern about any records that have you marked as deceased. You are welcome to provide the FamilySearch URL for the location where you see you marked as deceased to help us investigate your concern.
