I have a whole line of my tree that runs for several generations that the surname is spelled several ways: Male, Mayle, Mail, Maile, Mayl, and making them temple ready is a challenge. And after my question is answered and I've been given the help I need, how do I get to the person who is now ready for the temple.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    You are not alone ...

There are many post like yours ...

    Unfortunately ...

There are certain "Words", when used in the "Name" Field, of an individual/person, in "Family Tree", of 'FamilySearch', that evoke the, "Needs More Information"; and, contact 'FamilySearch', for "Temple" Work.

Individuals/Persons, in "Family Tree", of 'FamilySearch', whose "Name" Field, contains these certain "Words", need to be investigated by 'FamilySearch', prior to "Temple" Work being undertaken, to ensure that these certain "Words" are actually part of the individual's/person's "Name", rather than the contextual use of the "Words".

'Yes', you are correct, the problem/issue, regarding "Temple" Work relates to such a word in the "Name".

Specifically, the particular 'Word' of "Male", in the 'Family Name' / 'Surname' Field.

And, CURRENTLY, 'Yes', technically, one must "Request", that each individual/person, be "Checked", in each and very case.

As, proffered, in the "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch':

What words and abbreviations cause "Needs more information" to appear?

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-words-and-abbreviations-cause-needs-more-information-to-appear

And, remember, that list of "Words" (and "Abbreviations") is non-exhaustive, there are others.

    Now ...

    That Said ...

You have the option to contact 'FamilySearch' "Support either, directly by Telephone/"Live" ('On-Line') "Chat"; or, through a post in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

The place, to submit, such posts, pertaining to "Temple" Work, is:

    FamilySearch Help

    'Category' = Temple

HOME > FAMILYSEARCH HELP > TEMPLE

    Temple

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/categories/temple

Where, a "Moderator" [ ie. 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel) ], here in this Forum, will take such matters, such as yours, pertaining to "Temple" Work, into the Workings, of 'FamilySearch' "Support", to better help/assist you.

    As an aside ...

    FYI

Again ... you are not alone ...

The matter, regarding "Invalid" Words, in 'Family Names'/'Surnames', was also raised recently; as, an "Idea" (ie. 'Feedback'):

Automate unblocking temple work for valid surnames in Family Tree that are in the invalid words list

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/104711/automate-unblocking-temple-work-for-valid-surnames-in-family-tree-that-are-in-the-invalid-words-list

    Just a thought ...

You may wish to add your support to the aforementioned "Idea" (ie. 'Feedback').

    Good Luck.

I hope, that this may also help/assist; and, provide you with some additional, insight; and, perspective; plus, an avenue to pursue.
