Question concerning ditto marks. Under column 14, Birthplace, are the straight lines the same as ditto marks? There are several columns with these markings, yet I wouldn't take all of them as ditto marks. Columns 8 & 9 have similar lines yet, refer to the phrase "some kind of ditto marks".
Thanks

Hi @LowellSkipton . I can't open your batch, but here is a knowledge article on this issue. Note the instruction (my bolding) to use "contextual information" to tell when lines (vertical or horizontal) might be equivalent to actual ditto marks ("). Some lines might mean ditto within the same batch, and others might not. Use your best judgment based on context.
How do I index ditto marks?

If a record has a ditto mark or other sign of repetition, type the corresponding information from the previous record or field. Do not index the word "ditto" or the ditto mark itself. Other signs of repetition may include the abbreviation "Do" or a vertical or horizontal line.
Note: Sometimes you will have to depend on contextual information to determine whether a mark indicates repeated information from an earlier record or field, or whether it means something else, such as that no information was given for that record or field.
