WHY??
I have not been on this site for a few months and will probably not be back.
The changes to this site have made my researching extremely difficult.
I never had any issue with the way the site was set up previously. This is just no good.

You can get the same results as before, but by no means in such a straightforward fashion! Use of "exact" searches and filters (which were available previously, by the way) help in considerably narrowing down the number of results produced.
The main problem lies in options being less easily found than in using the old system and "headers" and other detail populating too much of the page, This means too few items are displayed on the screen, leading to the user having to undertake a lot of scrolling.

I agree. I have not seen such a difficult website in many years. As a user of Family Search for what must be 20 years their "progressive" approach reminds me of DOS written programs.
What were they thinking?

Hello @John Gombita & @Charlotte Willson_1 , I totally understand the frustration when things change, it's a big adjustment. However, there are many benefits to the new search pages if that is what you're alluding to. It helps people select filters to narrow down searches, which is useful for those experienced users, but begins with a simpler approach for beginners.
The article from the FamilySearch Blog below, gives a great overview that you may find helps you understand how to get the most from it.
I do hope this helps you feel more motivated to use the new features of the site 🙂

semmi ok nem volt a változtatásra!!!!! semmi értelme nincs a változtatásoknak!
Régen egyszerre lehetett bal oldalon beállitani a helyet, időt, anya-apa nevét, most kattintgatni kell, jobb oldalon a találati lista.
Miért kellett felcserélni? Miért kell külön kattintgatni a beállitásokhoz?
Miért kell a jót rosszabbá tenni? Miért nem számit,hogy sokan elégedetlenek?

(Brett, the Hungarian-to-English is surprisingly good, other than using the wrong sense of forma (should be "format" here, not "shape"), but between your characteristic extraneous punctuation and the translation errors, the English-to-Hungarian makes no sense whatsoever in places. I suggest sticking to the language you know and letting the other party apply the machine translator as needed.)

I agree that what was a wonderful site that could have used some upgrades has now become cumbersome and dysfunctional to use the record search Even after you figure out where the options are the results end up in the bottom inch of the screen and you have to scroll name by name. The search box takes up 90% of the screen when the results are given. I do not agree that this change makes it easier for new users. It is overall more complicated to figure out. How does that benefit new users or any user? Rather than trying to defend something that doesn't really work why not either give us an option to use the old interface or create something that actually works. It is kind of frustrating when asked for feedback to say it doesn't work and then as an answer for someone to try and tell you how it does actually work and is better. Do you actually want feedback?

There are OTHER posts throughout this Forum, where the instigator of the above posts has responded with, advice; direction; instruction; help/assistance, on the NEW "Results" page/screen, of "Records Search" ('FamilySearch').

That Said ...
You may like to ADD, your thoughts/comments, in those particular posts; so that, your thoughts/comments, like those of MANY other UNHAPPY Users/Patrons, ARE 'seen', by the Team, in 'FamilySearch', that 'Designed'; and, 'Developed" the NEW look "Search".
As you can 'see' from those posts ...
DESPITE, all the NEGATIVE 'Feedback', with regard to the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", from those that matter, the 'lowly' User/Patrons, where the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", was 'foisted' upon them; BEFORE, being "Fully" released to ALL User/Patrons - 'FamilySearch' RELEASED the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", to ALL Users/Patrons.
As I already suggested ...
You are not alone ...
We are ALL "Struggling"; and, NEED "Help", with the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", which is NOT very 'User Friendly'.
MOST Users/Patrons want the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records" to be "Reverted" BACK to the PREVIOUS "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records".
But ...
That Said ...
SADLY, I doubt that will happen ...
I know that this DOES NOT help/assist; but, I hope that this gives you some additional, insight; and, perspective.

I agree with all the criticism of the new facility and am very disappointed and frustrated. I have been battling with this new layout for some weeks now and I simply cannot understand why anyone thought this was better. I am sad to leave but I will not be using this previously very worthwhile website. I have paid a subscription now to the next best thing and will dump this one, I cannot be bothered with the faff required. Terrible shame, it used to be so good.

It's now been almost 4 months since I was chosen to experience 'the new search'. I am not inexperienced, here on FS, or any number of other sites, including many places that are quite antiquated and complicated to use.
None of the other sites come anywhere near close to the difficulties using this site. As has been said by 1000s of users, it just doesn't work in any logical way. If after 4 months users have not been able to even approximate the previous search to get records that are correct for the person being researched I can't see any way that newbies will find what they are looking for.
Maybe that was the plan baffle the newbies into accepting records for people with similar names, who lived in the 100 or so years around a date, somewhere on earth.
Emulating other sites that have no interest in accuracy is not a goal to aspire to.
I now only use FS as a last resort, and from what I am reading in discussions I am one of a multitude who are very disappointed.
