marriage record year - no where on record

I've run into this situation often when reviewing marriage records: a marriage year is indexed however the year doesn't show anywhere on the record.

But ..... if you look up the year, for example 1932 that is no where on the record, you will find the bans of marriage Sunday dates do match the year, April 10, 17, 24 that are on the record.

However, there are other years that also had Sundays of April 10, 17, 24. I don't know if the indexer looked for a year with those Sunday dates and settled on 1932.

Should I "blank" the year when the year entered is no where on the record?

Thanks, John

Yes if no date of marriage is on the record, it is indexed as "Blank"

Perhaps they are recording the year from reference images? It would be very odd to run into this situation often if the year was not available somewhere. You should share the batch code to get the most accurate answer. That is the series of letters/numbers following the project title [XXXX-XXX].
