GARBAGE
Years ago, I downloaded censuses for Samuel Worthington, born in Kentucky, lived in Ohio and Illinois. Well, good old FamilySearch now DOES NOT TURN UP any of the U.S. censuses for him. I have them, in black and white. His name is correct, his place of birth, his birth year range. NOTHING. NADA. Because this site is now a piece of junk.
I can even get rid of his place of birth. Records still don't show.
Searching is NOT FUN. Records I found in the past no longer show up. Basically, if I'd started research now, I'd figure most of my ancestors never existed. I sure as heck would make next to no progress.
All I see are posts complaining about the garbage search site this has become. Not only do the results SUCK (what results?), but you have to click and click and mouse and click and click and mouse to accomplish one darn thing.
But apparently y'all are satisifed with this piece of garbage.

And completely non-intuitive. Go to this side of the screen. Now go here. Scroll here. Where is it? Oh, did I leave something out? Can't see all the search parameters. Scroll. Scroll. Oops, scrolling the wrong scroll bar.
Do you people even read the comments? If you do, why have you not GONE BACK to a site that was WONDERFUL and I loved?

FYI
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
From another perspective ...
You are not alone ...
MANY; Many, many, of us wish for such ...
But ...
That Said ...
I really doubt such will ever happen ...
And, just in case you, were not aware ...
Here are some FOUR (x4) posts, in date (and, post) order of being posted, from someone, stating, to be part of the 'FamilySearch' Team that, 'Designed'; and, 'Developed", the the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", which appears, in some of the posts, to give some "Instruction", on HOW to use the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records".

FamilySearch Employee Responding to Search Page Feedback
I hope, that some of the information in these posts, may offer some help/assistance.
And ...
There are OTHER posts throughout this Forum, where the instigator of the above posts has responded with, advice; direction; instruction; help/assistance, on the NEW "Results" page/screen, of "Records Search" ('FamilySearch').
Now ...
That Said ...
You may like to ADD, your thoughts/comments, in those particular posts; so that, your thoughts/comments, like those of MANY other UNHAPPY Users/Patrons, ARE 'seen', by the Team, in 'FamilySearch', that 'Designed'; and, 'Developed" the NEW look "Search".
As you can 'see' from those posts ...
DESPITE, all the NEGATIVE 'Feedback', with regard to the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", from those that matter, the 'lowly' User/Patrons, where the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", was 'foisted' upon them; BEFORE, being "Fully" released to ALL User/Patrons - 'FamilySearch' RELEASED the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", to ALL Users/Patrons.
As I already suggested ...
You are not alone ...
We are ALL "Struggling"; and, NEED "Help", with the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records", which is NOT very 'User Friendly'.
MOST Users/Patrons want the NEW "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records" to be "Reverted" BACK to the PREVIOUS "Results" page/screen, for "Search Records".
But ...
That Said ...
SADLY, I doubt that will happen ...
I know that this DOES NOT help/assist; but, I hope that this gives you some more, insight; and, perspective.

Linda, thank you for using the forum to share your frustration. Research for certain is a process that takes time and much patience.
Research is not my favorite part of FamilySearch, however, may we recommend the following for your use:
How do I search the FamilySearch Research Wiki?
The Research Wiki allows you to conduct a search for family history articles. Most often you search by place or with key words.
Steps
- Sign in to FamilySearch.org and click Search, and then Research Wiki.
- In the search box, type one or more key words or the title of the article you want to find, such as United States Census.
- Click the search icon .
- Review the list of articles in the search results.
- Click the title of the article you want to read.
The table below offers strategies to help you find information in the FamilySearch Research Wiki.
What You KnowStrategyThe exact title of an articleEnter the full title in the search box. Keywords from an article that you read previouslySearch with keywords that you remember from the title or the body of the article.General information about what you want to learnEnter these kinds of search terms:
- The name of a place.
- A record type.
- A topic, such as Indians of North America, Germans in Pennsylvania, 1880 U.S. Census, or Illinois land and property records.
Near the bottom of every article, the word "Category" appears. To see a list of all articles in the category, click the name of the category. Search the list of articles in the category for similar or related articles.
It is an advanced method of doing your research with a forum where many guests give you assistance if you post your questions.
We wish you much success.

Even prior to the new search interface (which we all agree is shamefully bad), FS was having off-and-on trouble with the search "losing" parts of the database. For example, at one point last winter, I noticed that my ancestor was no longer turning up in Search, no matter how I looked. It turned out to have something to do with the fact that I had corrected the indexing on her entry. Because of the correction, the entry wasn't showing. They've since fixed that particular problem, but similar things keep cropping up (or rather, keep failing to crop up) in other collections. I wonder if your relatives have been caught in one of these glitches?
There is a way to at least sort of check on this: you say you have the censuses downloaded. Choose one of those downloads and find that census in "Find a Collection" (on the left on the second "stripe" of the Search - Records landing page). On the resulting collection-specific search page, scroll down below the search section and click the "Browse through NNN images" link. Using the information from the header part of your downloaded census page, choose the state, county, township, and enumeration district, and then page through the images until you find the one that matches your download. At the bottom of the image viewer, check the Image Index tab for your relative's name, and click the page icon to the left of it. This should give you FS's index entry page for that relative in that census. Now use that index entry to search the collection (using the collection-specific search page, because it hasn't yet been ruined). If your relative doesn't turn up, try a neighbor (i.e. go back to the image and choose someone else from the Image Index tab). The results of this investigation should give you some idea of the scope of the problem.

it's Terrible! Why does Familysearch not listen to its users?
