Where did you get Freisthorpe from?

Where did you get Freisthorpe from? I cannot find that spelling anywhere. John Cary has it Fristhorpe in1754 and Lincolnia comitatus has it Thristhorpe. All my life it has been Friesthorpe. If you change your standardised place name I will be able to apply it, otherwise I can't really click on a name I think is incorrect and I can't see a way to change it.

You can both correct existing and make new FamilySearch Place suggestions at:

    https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/?searchTypeaheadInputText=Freisthorpe&text=Freisthorpe&focusedId=2966277

Just provide your research links and indicate that you think there is a typo/misspelling ...

It sort of helps but I'm not sure how you leave a URL of a place. I left a grid reference and a URL for an OS map but why would anyone change the letters around. There are old spellings but that isn't one I can find and they don't leave a URL to take me to where they got their information, just grid references.

Thanks for trying but I won't be using your standardised place names unless they are correct.

When you click the '+ submit a new place' you can request to edit existing locations/spelling - you can put in as much detailed or as little research as you want - including URLs for your request. I saw Freisthorpe listed twice as UK Parish. Just reference these existing places in your 'new place' request and explain your local knowledge/expertise as to why the current place is incorrect. Keep trying. If Familysearch won't recognize it as a typo and correct it - that's their decision. Certainly you don't have to use or correct Standardized place names - it will all get 'fixed' eventually. All not using standardized place names now will do - you won't be able to see the attached geo-coordinates for Tree ancestors from the location or receive Record Hints (generated by those persons having the standardized location attached in their Tree). You can manually search/attach records and use some other mapping software outside of Familysearch.
