Question about Messages

Can anyone explain why, after entering several generations of Germanic relatives from SW Hungary, I get a message that a Mr. Oettinger, a WWII veteran is a likely ancester. There are no such people in my large extended family, especially as recently as this. Who thinks this up and upon what is it based?
