HTTP Error 429 when trying to download on 2nd Floor computers
This was my second day at the library. I have been coming to the library for over 40 years, back to when it was in the old building. I come hundreds of miles once a year to spend 10 days doing research, mostly looking at and copying documents not available at home, and download primary sources to add to my family trees. My first problem occurred when I tried to download documents from different counties in different states at different times. I got the error message stated above several times Friday and today. I heard library volunteers talking about this problem and it was clear that it has been going on for a while. Then someone from the Tech department came up to talk to them and it was clear that he is frustrated also. Another volunteer finally told me about the Snip icon and showed me how I could use it to download but a couple hours later another volunteer showed me that doing that creates an image that isn't good quality, 2 hours wasted time! Finally today another volunteer told me that I have to connect to Family Search and that was causing the error message because some of what I was looking at is restricted to the FHC only. So I connected to Family Search and it all worked for a while and then I got the same error message even though I was in Family Search. I kept moving from computer to computer trying to find one that would download. Four ended up with the same error message. You have spent a great deal of money on the new computer systems but if library users can't do a simple task like downloading documents it was all a waste. The library is quieter now but when it gets busy, you are going to have some unhappy users if this problem isn't fixed. Another problem, this morning my computer froze, and when I reported it at the desk they said, "Oh dear, we hoped they wouldn't do that today", apparently another ongoing problem. Please fix these problems.
