Why are you telling people who are doing the land sections not to include Twp and sections and range

The most accurate information is the Sections and Ranges and Township. I worked for the Bureau of Land Management for several years and recorded those actions( Sec. Twp. and ranges). You are telling me that it is not important to do that. You are not giving the right information to indexers. That should be the information that you want to give to an indexer

    Hello Paul. I think the instruction you are referring to is:

    Do not index the numbered sections, districts, townships, or ranges recorded at the top of the tract book form.

    I'm guessing that they will include other information before these are published. There are other steps that go into projects after the indexing is complete. We can't search on locations like Town 1 Range 1 Western Reserve, so it probably isn't as helpful to include that in an index. But, when the researcher locates the image with a name search, they will be able to see the fine details.
